MyTwoFrontTeeth.org Serves Area Children by Providing Holiday Gift Givers A Simple, Heart-Warming Way to Give
San Francisco, CA (PRWeb) December 23, 2006 -- MyTwoFrontTeeth.org, A Family Giving Tree Project, has increased its 2006 wish delivery by more than fifty percent in 2007, resulting in more than 4800 less-advantaged Bay Area children receiving a gift in time for the holidays. More and more Americans are choosing to donate to a cause on behalf of friends and loved ones in lieu of traditional retail giving. MyTwoFrontTeeth.org allows gift-givers to select and sponsor the child of their choice, with the gift of their choice in the name of someone they care about. Additionally, a portion of each toy's price is donated to participating agencies in support of family and community programs throughout the year.
MyTwoFrontTeeth.org uses the Internet to enable sponsors to fulfill gift wishes in a simple, personalized manner. Sponsors visit www.MyTwoFrontTeeth.org, browse through the children's drawings and profiles, and sponsor by adding the wishes - a selection of twenty-four toys under $30 - to their "wish cart" and completing checkout. Behind the scenes, MyTwoFrontTeeth.org handles toy purchasing through distributors, and the toys are shipped to a central warehouse where they are sorted, matched to wishes, wrapped and delivered to the children a few days before the holidays.
"The MyTwoFrontTeeth.org model ensures continued self-sustainability in addition to allowing us to re-distribute profit proceeds to the participating social organizations in support of their ongoing programs beyond the holidays," said founder and CEO, Josh McFarland. "We're proud to have proven such strong blended-value in maintaining a for-profit business model with a sustainable non-profit mission. And we look forward to deliberately and fully extending the model on a national level in 2007."
MyTwoFrontTeeth.org's social return on investment results in thousands of dollars and hours saved for the organizations affiliate community agencies including Headstart, Boys & Girls Clubs, Glide, The Economic Opportunity Council, and Harvest Fellowship, among others.
Because the gifts are purchased through distributors, MyTwoFrontTeeth.org is able to capture a margin of profit that would normally go to retailers. This additional value captured from each toy purchase goes into the MyTwoFrontTeeth.org Fund, which is used in three capacities. First it fulfills the wishes of children that were not sponsored. Secondly ten percent of net proceeds are donated back to the partner community organizations, and lastly, the remainder of the balance is used to fund MyTwoFrontTeeth.org's year-over-year growth. It is this blended-value of social responsibility and self-sustainability that lead MyTwoFrontTeeth.org to win over $30,000 and top honors two social business plan competitions, namely the National Nonprofit Funding Competition and the Stanford BASES Social E-Challenge.
"We've gone from 189 to 4884 wishes fulfilled in just a few years focusing on the Bar Area, with pilot programs in other cities including New York, Chicago, Seattle and Houston. This coming year we are improving processes and extending the program formally," said McFarland. "We may even do some international pilots. The spirit of giving is truly on the rise, and our vision is to be the premier solution provider empowering nonprofit organizations to build efficient and personalized gift giving offerings - 2007 will be pivotal".
